Weekly Scientific Workshops (Thursdays, 9 to 11 a.m.) Scientific Workshop sessions will be taught by UF Faculty Members or a visiting Guest speaker. Topics currently scheduled are
Week 1. “Useful Bioinformatics Tools”, with a Genomics Project developed by Dr. William Gurley
Week 2. Written & Oral Communications Workshop with writing assignment, Part I (SEAGEP REU)
Week 3. “The Power of Comparative Genomics” Workshop offered by Dr. Valerie de Crecy-Lagard
Week 4. Written & Oral Communications Workshop with writing assignment, Part II (SEAGEP REU)
Week 5. Ethics presentation 1: “Ethics in Science”, Dr. Jeffrey Burkhardt
Week 6. Ethics presentation 2: “What’s the Big Deal About Biotechnology”, Dr. Jeffrey Burkhardt
Week 7. Ethics presentation 3: Student discussion and case studies, Dr. Jeffrey Burkhardt
Week 8. Visiting Scientist from UGA or NCSU
Week 9. The focus will be on finishing research projects.
Week 10. Final Student Poster Presentations
